Can it be true, our suave, sophisticated, superspy, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan), has been captured during a mission to North Korea, tortured, and is being held prisoner in some dirty jail and the British Government doesn't want to know! After fourteen months James is finally freed through a prisoner exchange scheme. James wants revenge and his quest, initially not sanctioned by 'M' (Judi Dench), sees him set off for Havana where he meets an American secret agent Jinx (Halle Berry). They are both after the same people, albeit for different reasons. Hot on the trail of the deadly megalomaniac Gustav Graves and his ruthless right-hand man Zao, James finds himself travelling from Havana to London to Iceland. He does have a little company along the way though, as well as Jinx there is the beautiful Miranda Frost (Rosamude Pike) who, despite her name, manages to keep him warm. (12)
